On thursday, Sandy was having trouble taking her medicine without choking.
On Friday, Sandy was having trouble eating and drinking without choking.
I called Hospice on Friday morning and they sent over a nurse who evaluated Sandy and advised us that Sandy's body is starting to shut down. They have told us not feed her or give her liquids anymore because there is a good chance that she could choke to death and that would be a traumatic and horrible way to go. She is currently resting very peacefully, not in any pain. The nurse told us that it could be any day, and probably not more than 3 weeks.

I am thankful she is peaceful and pain free. Thanks for all you do, Tawnda. You're such a remarkable woman, and I know Sandy could not love you any more.
ReplyDeleteSandy... my prayers are with you and your family. I lost my father on Aug 12th. Hospice was a blessing and made sure his passing was peaceful. You have touched so many life’s and you will NEVER be forgotten. Your positivity was contagious and will live on in the hearts of many. -Sandra 'Bunny'
ReplyDeleteLife's Weaving
ReplyDeleteMy Life is but a weaving
Between my God and me;
I may not choose the colors,
He knows what they should be
For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side,
While I can see it only
On this, the under side.
Sometimes He weaveth sorrow,
Which seemeth strange to me;
But I will trust His judgment,
And work on faithfully;
Tis He who fills the shuttle,
He knows just what is best;
So I shall weave in earnest
And leave with Him the rest.
At last, when life is ended,
With Him I shall abide,
Then I may view the pattern
Upon the upper side;
Then I shall know the reason
Why pain with joy entwined,
Was woven in the fabric
Of life that God designed.
Sandy, you are one in a million hun. You are one of the most amazing women i have met and am honored to call you a friend and think of you as my family.. as many times as i was having a bad day your smile and saying hello could always put a smile on my face. You will always be missed and will NEVER be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteTo my vampire queen who I had the privilidge of serving under in the years of Lore Of The Vampire at Halloween Haunt,you are the sweetest,most endearing woman I have ever met around Haunt. You always had a warm comment when the conditions around the park weren't great or tensions and drama were getting the best of me. When God chooses to take you and leave us without you in the physical presence something truly wonderful will happen in heaven. For they will recieve a kind woman who loved life to the fullest and always tried to bring that out in all of us. Your spirit will be with us even though the physical will be missed. We all end up at the same place we just never know the time. So thank you my queen for being so kind and loving and the memories will always find a sweet place in my heart for the rest of my life. Fight until you can no longer and when you go ....go in peace and understand we love you and we will keep your spirit alive in all of our hearts. God bless you Sandy and to you Tawnda for your undying love of your sister in her final days. This is such a blessing to have in the days when you hear many just sending off thier relatives to die alone. For you to be her strength in these final days will give her the dignity everyone is so deserving of at the end of thier lives. I will miss you Sandy but like Bunny said you will never be forgotten. Much love ,peace, & honor,

I just heard from Bunny that Sandy left us this morning. Tawnda, even though I don't know you and I didn't know Sandy very well just know that there are many prayers and thoughts heading yours (and all who knew Sandy) way. Every time I saw Sandy she was always smiling happily and was just an absolute sweetheart. I know everyone thought of her as a queen -- even after Lore was gone. She will be missed by many, many people and she will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her. <3

Take comfort in knowing, though she will truly be missed and mourned, Sandy is no longer in pain and now is free to roam in the here after as the true free spirit she was in life! My love and prayers are with you through this time and always! Much love to you all!
Sandy, you were always our angel! We are blessed to have known you in life and take comfort knowing you will now watch over us all from above!

I knew Sandy many years ago when we worked together in the original Lair of the Vampyre. You could see the kindness of her soul reflected in her eyes and the sweet smile she always had for everyone she met. May she smile down upon all of us for the rest of our days until we see her again on the other side. Bless you Sandy.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers on this dark day. Sandy was truly a special person. She always had a smile and hug for anyone she came into contact with. Thank you for the updates.

There is one more Angel in Heaven.
ReplyDeleteSandy is in a wonderful place now. I know she will continue to watch over us. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have known Sandy and to be touched by her beautiful spirit.
I know that every thing happens for a reason and that we my not know that reason until later down the road, but I do know now that this has brought some wonderful people together and forged and unbreakable and common bond between us.
To Twanda and her family: Thank you so much for being there for Sandy. You are an amazing family.
God Save The Queen! Forever May She Reign!
Love and friendship always,
Lisa Heath
Tawnda, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Sandy was truly a special spirit. Her kindness and beautiful heart knew no limits. I feel blessed to be a part of the Haunt family and we all mourn with you today.
ReplyDeleteLong live the Queen. Heaven has a beautiful angel today.
May the road rise to meet you.
ReplyDeleteMay the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

My prayers and condolences to Sandy's family. My memories of Sandy include going through one of the incarnations of the vampire maze and feeling a feather tickle the back of my ear, only to look around and see her smiling at me. I will watch the footage of Sandy in "Season of Screams" tonight and think of how she radiated love. God bless you Sandy.
ReplyDeleteSat holding my unopened bottle of 1992 Vampire wine from Transylvania. Sandy bought it for me my first year as her make-up artist. She actually went down to a club in Hollywood to get it, only to learn they were selling it at Ralph's too. She was all put out about that...LOL For over 15+ years I have been blessed to call this beautiful woman my friend. Now her memories will feel my mind and always bring warmth into my heart and a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteMy love to Sandy and her family,
Claudia
We will miss you dearly Sandy. Haunt will be a darker place without you.
ReplyDeleteSandy, words cannot even begin to describe how much you will be missed. though I never really knew you, but I remember that everytime I saw you during the only year I worked Haunt you always had a smile on your face, and it was contagious, and no one could help but have one on their face after seeing you and/or speaking to you. my thoughts and prayers are with your family. rest in peace beautiful Queen.....

First of all this is my frst visit to this site and I would like to thank Tawanda for all she does and taking the time to post these updates for all of Sandys friends. You obviously know what an impact this remarkable woman has had on all our lives, thank you.
ReplyDeleteSandy what an honor it is to be your friend. At the begining of every night it was a privilage to kneel before you and kiss your hand, a ritual before the maze opened, and at break time when we would go to the Big Bear Lodge aka Lucy's Lunchbox. Walking next to you escorting you arm in arm across the street I felt like biggest man in the world (and that had nothing to do with your hight)your presence alone made me feel 10 feet tall.
Although you've worn many outfits n gowns and played many beautiful roles you are most beautiful to me when you are in your comfy jammies looking up at the big screen and bieng entertained. Know that you are loved very much. Love Robert
Always a kind word for everyone and such the optimist. We'll miss you & your smile, Sandy. Twanda...Thank you for being there when others couldn't. That bond will never be broken. We all love you for that! Take care!
ReplyDeleteWith much love,
~Kristie
My thoughts and prayers to Sandy and her family. I didn't know here as well as many did but she made me feel like I was her closest friend. I will really miss her kind smile and her comforting hugs. You will forever be in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteRIP Sandy!
As I sit and reminisce about a friend, I cannot help but think of the absolutely infectious smile that warmed many a cold soul. Whether in a dark, under-lit maze during Halloween Haunt or the Chinese fire drill called Haunt Build/Install, that smile is iconic to the months of September and October at Knott's Berry Farm. If there is but one thing that is rembered about her, I know it is the smile that could melt the Antarctic.
ReplyDeleteSandy, we will all miss you and the kindness and love felt by everyone that knew you. Rest well, my friend, and we will meet again some day in the next world to which we all must go. On behalf of the many who have had the priviledge of crossing paths with you, thank you.

I just want to send out my prayers to Sandy's family! I had the great chance to work with Sandy a few times! She was an awesome lady! I will never forget the things she said to me! Even though I am no longer at Haunt anymore, I will still miss you Sandy! I love you and Rest in Peace.....

It is a sad day for the haunt family and Sandy's family she was an amazing person and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She touched more lives that she knew. Rest in Peace beautiful Vampire Queen!
ReplyDeleteWhen Knott's brought back Dominion of the dead. The first thing that popped in my mind was the Vampire Queen. I did not know she had past away. I discovered this through research on the internet. I'm so sorry to discover this and I will surely miss her as I'm a fan. She was the most beautiful character in Knott's Scary Farm.
